Most people neglect one part of their wardrobe completely, though it is the part they live in most. Loungewear. The set you pull on the moment you get home. The pyjamas you actually sleep in. The robe you reach for on a slow Friday morning. Making it is one of my favourite things to do. We spend our softest, most private hours in these clothes, so they deserve as much care as any evening dress.

Bespoke loungewear in Abu Dhabi gives you comfort built around your own body, in fabrics chosen for our climate. It is custom loungewear in the truest sense, and it outlasts almost anything you would find on a fast-fashion rail.

The trouble with off-the-rack loungewear

Shop-bought homewear tends to let you down in one of two ways. The cheap sets look sweet in the photo, then sag, pill and lose their shape after a few washes. The lovely imported pieces cost a small fortune and still do not sit right. The shoulders drop, the trousers pool at the ankle, the waist lands in the wrong place.

Made-to-measure pyjamas fix that. When a set is cut to your own measurements, the shoulder sits where your shoulder is, the sleeve ends where you want it, and the trousers are your length. It is the kind of fit you will not find on a rack in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. You stop putting up with your loungewear and start actually reaching for it.

What I make

Loungewear covers a lot of ground, and I enjoy all of it:

• Pyjama sets (pajamas, if you spell it the American way): a soft cotton shirt with trousers or shorts, in whatever collar, cuff and length you like. A loose cotton sleep shirt on its own works beautifully too.
• Nightdresses and slip dresses: simple and easy, cut to skim rather than cling.
• Robes and home kaftans, from a light throw-on layer to something fuller and warmer.
• Matching two-piece sets you would happily answer the door in.
• Maternity and nursing pieces: soft, adjustable, made for real days and nights.
• Sets to give as a gift, his and hers, or mother and daughter in the same cloth.

The custom loungewear pieces people ask for most

A few requests come back again and again, so they are worth describing properly.

• Cotton shirts. A classic sleep shirt with a soft collar, or a looser camp-collar version you would happily wear onto the balcony. I cut the back a little longer so it stays put when you move.
• Cotton shorts. Made to your rise and your length, which is the whole point. Shop shorts either ride up or hang halfway to the knee. A drawstring waist and a smooth back yoke keep them comfortable to sleep in.
• Linen shorts. For the hottest months. Linen creases, and that is part of its charm, so I cut them a touch roomier and finish the seams to survive constant washing.
• Shirt and shorts sets. The pairing most people end up living in. Same cloth throughout, or a plain shirt with printed shorts if you would rather the set did not look like a uniform.

Fabrics that work in the Abu Dhabi climate

• I take your measurements, then we choose the cloth and the details together.
• We fit the pieces on you and adjust until they are right, not roughly right.
• You get clothes you can genuinely live in.

All of it can happen in the studio or on a home visit, whichever suits you. It is the same made-to-measure work I put into any custom clothing, only softer.

Timeline and price

I quote every piece on its own, because the fabric and the design decide the price far more than any label. A simple cotton set is one thing, a full silk two-piece is another. The first chat is just a chat, with no pressure to order.
